Marpessa, the younger, isgifted with God-sight and can see the Immortals. She is handmaidento Helen, the most beautiful woman in the world. Xanthe, kindand loving, tends the warriors in the Blood Room, where the woundedare carried in from the battle. Aphrodite, Goddess of Love,bored with the endless dreary war, decided to play with the two girls.
Told from the point of view of the women of Troy, portrays the last weeks of the Trojan War, when women are sick of tending the wounded, men are tired of fighting, and bored gods and goddesses find ways to stir things up.
